Senior Bungee Jumpers: Prep That Actually Matters

Community

Plenty of operators do not set a hard upper age limit. They set weight bands, medical screens, and "can you follow instructions" standards. That is the real filter.

If your heart, joints, or balance are already a daily project, talk to a doctor before you talk to the booking site.

What operators actually gate on

Age floors are published (often 10+ with consent rules for minors). Upper age is usually health-dependent, not a birthday cutoff. Weight ranges are product-specific - e.g. Kawarau Bridge solo 35–150 kg with tandem combined limits and a max weight gap between partners.[1][2]

Medical lists commonly flag heart conditions, blood pressure issues, pregnancy, epilepsy, recent injuries, and more. Disclose them. Crew assess on the day.[3][4]

Prep that is not a midlife montage

  • GP or specialist OK if you have cardiac history, implants, osteoporosis concerns, or uncontrolled hypertension
  • Normal sleep; no "liquid courage" - operators refuse intoxicated jumpers without refund[1]
  • Closed-toe shoes and clothes that work with a harness
  • Arrive early so you are not sprinting on pure adrenaline
  • One calm person with you, not a hype squad

You do not need to train like a decathlete. You need to walk the site approach, sit, stand, and follow a short brief. If stairs or gondolas are part of access, confirm that too.[1]

On the platform

Do their process. Say if you need out before you are committed. Freezing is common at every age. Decent crews would rather unhook you than push a bad jump - and serious brands say they do not push people off as a rule.[1]

Afterward: shaky legs, big talk, maybe a stiff neck or back from the harness and the rebound. Plan a quiet afternoon. If something feels medically wrong, say so immediately.

Skip the age-shaming either way

You are not "too old" because a teenager on TikTok jumped first. You are also not required to jump to prove you are still interesting. Opting out after an honest medical chat is competence.

Bottom line: health and weight limits beat birthday vanity, disclose medical history, sober check-in, calm company. Freefall later in life is allowed - heroics are optional.
