Pregnant? Why Most Bungee Operators Say No (and Rare Exceptions)

If you are pregnant, you should not bungee jump. Most operators will not let you. That is the whole policy in one line.

Why most bungee operators say no to pregnancy is simple: the activity dumps rapid acceleration, rebound, and harness pressure on a body that is already running a high-stakes project. Commercial safety pages state they cannot permit pregnant participants. UK operators list pregnancy as a hard ban. Some amusement codes list pregnancy among minimum medical disqualifiers.[1][2][3]

There is no clever exception for "just a small jump"

Height does not make pregnancy safer. Early pregnancy is not a free pass. "I feel fine" is not a medical clearance. Operators are not equipped to assess obstetric risk on a platform, and they are not going to redesign a waiver so you can film a gender-reveal freefall.

If you might be pregnant and have not tested, treat that as a reason to wait. Lying on a medical form to keep a booking is reckless for you and for the crew who trust the paperwork.

What "rare exceptions" actually means

For commercial bungee, treat exceptions as effectively nonexistent for paying customers. You may find internet folklore about someone who jumped anyway. That is not a protocol. It is a story that should not guide you.

After pregnancy, return only when your clinician is happy and the operator's medical rules — including any doctor's letter requirements for related conditions — are satisfied. Recent birth, surgery, or pelvic issues are separate conversations from "not pregnant anymore."

What to do instead

  • Spectate if the site allows it and access is reasonable
  • Book a non-bungee activity that matches your clinician's advice
  • Save the jump for a trip when screening is clean
