For a first jump in Queenstown, one product is enough. Kawarau Bridge Bungy is the usual starter: 43 metres, heritage site, tandem option, water-touch sometimes possible depending on river level. Nevis is taller and a longer day — fine if you want that, overkill if you just need to start.[1][2]
Build the day around the booking. Everything else is frame.
Night before
Sleep. Normal dinner. No big night out. Read the medical and weight notes again — Kawarau lists roughly 35–150 kg for singles, with a lower max when the river is high; under-15s need adult consent at check-in.[1]
Decide your stop rule while calm: after final checks and countdown you jump on their call; until then you can still say no.
Morning of
Easy breakfast. Closed shoes. Layers if it is cold. Arrive with margin — self-drive Kawarau is about 1.5 hours end to end; bungy bus from town is longer.[1] Spectators can visit the Kawarau centre free on site; bus seats for spectators still need booking when you use their transport.
Listen to the brief. Watch someone else if you can. Methodical bored crew is good. Chaos is a reason to leave.
After the jump
Legs shake. You talk too fast. Fine. Eat something. Keep the afternoon light: lakeside walk, Arrowtown, a gondola view, coffee — not a second paid freefall unless you truly want it and still feel solid.[3]
If weather cancels, do not punish the day. Scenic plan B, then rebook. Queenstown is built for that kind of pivot.[3]
What not to do
Do not stack jet boat + bungy + big hike + bar crawl as a "perfect first day." Do not film every second if it makes you perform. Do not lie on the medical form. More prep: mental prep.
Bottom line: One jump, protected sleep, light afternoon, weather room. Queenstown has infinite add-ons. You do not have to buy them on day one.
